Personal Food
You are welcome to provide your dog’s own diet for his or her stay, and you are encouraged to do so if your dog has a sensitive stomach.
Feeding Schedule
The Local Bark provides up to three feedings per day: morning, noon and evening.
Temperament Test
All dogs must pass a temperament test in order to take part in socialization with other dogs in our daycare Program. Dogs will be assigned an appropriate play group based on size, age and activity level. The Local Bark staff will do their best to maintain appropriate levels of play. Any intimidation between dogs will be interrupted. Methods of interruption may include, but are not limited to use of spray bottles, fog horn, or dog-safe animal deterrent sprays.
Intact Males and Unspayed Females
Intact males or unspayed females over the age of 10 months will not be allowed to socialize in playgroups, as their hormone levels will more likely increase arousal levels between dogs.
The Local Bark is happy to administer topical or oral medications during your dog’s stay. We do not, however, administer injections. Please be sure all medications are clearly labeled with instructions for administration.
Size and Weight To Determine Room Size
The Local Bark offers several different room sizes, because your dog’s comfort is our priority. Guests should be able to stand up and comfortably move around in your selected room.
Due to the dimensions of our small rooms, guests weighing more than 30 pounds may not board in small rooms.
Roommates
For more than one guest from the same family, The Local Bark allows dogs to share a room. All dogs in the same room should appear comfortable in the space provided for them.
The Local Bark Personal Care Program encompasses 2 categories: Behavioral and Medical. Guests placed into the Personal Care Program may incur fees of up to $35 additional per day. A guest may be enrolled in the Personal Care Program during their stay, at the discretion of The Local Bark staff, if needed for your dog’s safety, or the safety of other dog guests. Reasons for the Personal Care Program include, but are not limited to: Unneutered male dogs and unspayed females over 10 months of age, dogs that are dog aggressive and display behavior that is not conducive to safe play with other dogs, dogs that are human aggressive and display behavior that is not conducive to the safety of The Local Bark’s staff, and dogs that have medication or feeding needs beyond The Local Bark’s defined schedules.
